About the event
So many of us learned to survive by overfunctioning — overextending, people-pleasing, anticipating everyone else’s needs while abandoning our own. Over time, this keeps the nervous system in a chronic state of hypervigilance, elevates stress hormones like cortisol, and quietly erodes our sense of safety and stability from the inside out.
In this talk, we’ll explore how the body becomes the first messenger of burnout-- through tension, exhaustion, resentment, anxiety, or shutdown-- and how those signals are invitations to rebuild differently.
Using a practical and embodied metaphor of your inner world as a home, we’ll understand boundaries as protection (doors, locks, walls) and self-compassion as restoration (rooms, light, windows, foundation). You’ll learn how to listen to your nervous system as your internal alarm system, practice simple discernment to shift from self-sacrifice to self-loyalty, and develop clear, grounded boundary language that supports inner stability.
You’ll leave with tools to reduce overfunctioning, step out of survival mode, and begin rebuilding an inner home that feels safe, steady, and truly yours.
This talk is perfect for anyone:
Wanting steadier self-talk and healthier relationships
Who struggles to say no without guilt
Who over-explains, over-accommodates, or “keeps the peace” at their own expense
Rebuilding self-worth after burnout or emotionally draining dynamics
